Salzalpensteig
A pinch of history and a lot of nature
The name Salzalpensteig already suggests that this is a scenic and historically exciting long-distance hiking trail. With Bavaria, Salzburg and Upper Austria, this trail runs through several countries, vacation regions and traditional hiking areas. Hallein is part of two stages.
From the Bavarian Königssee you walk along the Königsseeache to Berchtesgaden. Past the salt mine, you continue to the foothills of the Rossfeld – with the destination Bad Dürrnberg, where the Celts have left many traces and salt was mined as early as the 5th century BC. From there to Golling, romantic forest paths and views of the Tennengebirge mountains as well as many other natural highlights await you.
