Unterer Knappen- Rundwanderweg

Exciting – and not too short
Note: The hiking trail is closed. Walking on the path is at your own risk and responsibility. The Hallein/Bad Dürrnberg Tourist Office expressly accepts no liability for any damage, accidents or other disadvantages arising from walking on the closed trail. Parents are liable for their children. It is expressly pointed out that walking on the closed path is prohibited!
The salt mine in Bad Dürrnberg is a real crowd-puller. Its easy accessibility is certainly one of the reasons why this excursion destination is so popular. You can find out that this was not so easy for the Celts or Hallein miners (in addition to the already hard work in a tunnel) on the Lower Miners’ Circular Hiking Trail.
The hiking tour begins below the Dürrnberg in the medieval town of Hallein. It leads on to Bad Dürrnberg to the Hallein salt mines, offering great views. The route continues upwards via the Knappensteig. After a break with a marvellous panoramic view, the trail descends along a primeval path that was already used by the Celts: through the wild and romantic Reingraben.
