The smallest gallery in the universe
At 1-Blick, contemporary art can be experienced undisturbed in a central location in the old town. As early as 1992, Helmuth Hickmann started the non-commercially oriented exhibition project “1Blick. Art in the Vorhaus”. Since then, “Great Art in a Small Space” has been shown 12 times a year at the turn of the month. The focus of the project is the presentation of critical art, if possible accompanied by strong texts.
In 1-Blick, “unnoticed” shall meet “well-known” and “young” shall meet “established” art. Helmuth Hickmann strives for a balanced mix of painting, graphics and sculpture. New media also play an important role. “The smallest gallery in the universe” makes do with a room that has a floor space of only 0.37 m², so the full attention is concentrated on one work. On principle, vernissages or other supporting events are dispensed with.
